Marathon training-Week 5 completed, week 6 done but not completed, week 7 started

The 11 miles on Saturday was the long run from week 5 that I could not do then, due to the snow.

Sunday I did 5 miles with the 3 miles in the middle at a fast pace. Was amazed to manage this with an average pace of 9:24.  (considering the previous days run). Legs felt surprisingly fine until after dinner when they just turned to jelly. I blame the yummy Turkey Pesto Lasagna and even yummier Mars Bar Apple Crumble that I made for dinner!

This morning I dropped madam with her Godmother (left them making Pasta) and ceased the opportunity to start week 7 training plan. Was a choice between a 6 mile or 3 mile run and am glad I decided on the smaller distance for two reasons 1)on the route I decided to take the paths were treacherous-still 2)the legs had had enough.

Tomorrow will be a rest day!

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!

They sound very calorie laden. I’m realllly struggling to eat properly as I’m just so disorganised at the moment…must get on and do a sainsburys shop…
