Yes you have been warned I have lots to type about today, but so as not to put you to sleep I have decided to create a trilogy.
- Blogging and running
- Shopping for a new dress
- Two pairs of new trainers one for road, one for cross county
The men amongst you can’t wait for part two I bet!
This week I received an email stating ‘shazruns’ been nominated for 1st Annual Virtual Running UK Blog Awards. Wow! Really? This little blog with its ramblings about running, Madam and life in Devon has been nominated for what clearly must be the blogging equivalent to the Pulitzer Prize! Wow. My immediate thought, which lovely (slightly mad) person had put me forward? Assuming only a Mum could love a blog that much, I fired off an email to Essex. The reply came, nope not her. I could have nominated myself, NOPE I didn’t, so the mystery remains. Thanks anyway to whoever you are.
On following the link I discovered the names of the other nominees, one being the lovely ceejaykay whom I have been following for a while. Can’t believe we are up against each other! Good luck CJK. CJK posts some lovely pics taken on her runs, writes a great blog and this week is going to join a real running club, in fact if she does not go this time I will personally jump on a train and escort her there myself. The first step is the hardest, but I know she won’t look back once she gets there, totally understand her nerves though, that was me 11 months ago. I can without any exaggeration say that joining a running club has changed my life and improved my running no end. I am sure it will hers too. This virtual stuff is all very well but can’t compete with the ‘real thing’.
This week, as promised I eased off the running. Running just once in the week and only then as a Pub and a Pie were involved! The night run on the Devon country lanes was interesting, to say the least and packed full of drama, starting off with my head torch falling apart on arrival! Fortunately one of the runners took her hair tie out and I used this, like I would an elastic band to hold it together! Ingenious lot these runners. Then we came across a car in a ditch, it had ended up in there when it had moved over for a passing car, they were waiting for a tractor, so we did not have to try to get them out which was a great relief to all. Next one of the girls fell in a pot hole with a flourish of hi-viz, not too much damage done except to our sides from laughing so much, but she will have to purchase a new pair of leggings. The pie was most welcome at the end of all that.
Parkrun was a bit easier this week on fresher legs and not so muddy mud. We sure need a cold snap though as I got bitten 6 times, so come on Jack Frost make an appearance soon please. Saturday afternoon I hit the hills, fields and mud with my running buddy, we knocked out 7 miles, but set no speed record. It was a beautiful day though.
On return home I discovered little homework done, one rabbit not cleaned out, but on the up side Madam had managed to put nail polish on her toe nails!
If you feel like voting follow this link here, but wait for it voting opens at midnight. CJK would love your votes also but beware you can only vote once! Be back soon with the much anticipated middle part of the trilogy.
🙂 I put your lovely blog forward hunny xxx you deserve it!
Oh that was nice of you thanks for that, really appreciate it, very flattered!
when I started reading your blog on Junathon, it was the first blog I ever followed… you inspired me Shaz! Not only to write about my journey but to RUN and LOVE it!
I have kept my blog quiet, only my family and closest friends know about it so how mine landed up in there I have no idea 🙂 how I am going to get votes is even more of a mystery lol because like I said… it’s not ‘out’ there…. I didn’t want to force my ‘journey’ on anyone so I’ve just quietly carried on… no one at work knows about… and I have never put a link on FaceBook…. LOL, hubby doesn’t even read it!
Such kind words. Thanks💙. I keep mine quiet too, no link on FB, no one at club knows, but Mum and Dad are my biggest fans now and is a great way of them keeping up with our life in Devon. Hubby reads it once in a while and usual spots the typos! Keep blogging your journey, I will be following and take care of that injury!
❤️ you better keep blogging to and WIN this!
Without your funny blogs, trials and tribulation posts and constant support for the rest of us, Blogosphere would not be the same x GO Shaz and Madam 😎
Here here 🙂
Congratulations on your nomination! 🙂
I keep my blog quiet too from people who know me in real life, but it’s great meeting other runners ‘virtually’ through blogging. Best of luck with the awards. I’m sure you’ll do brilliantly! 🙂
Congratulations on the nomination – very well deserved!
Congratulations. That’s brilliant.
I, too, keep my blogging life quiet from most people who know me in the non-virtual world. Reading the comments, it would seem that it is a bit of a recurring theme. My family read it, but I haven’t mentioned it to friends and colleagues. I wonder why we aren’t more open about it with those we know?
Well done again.
Vote Shaz!
Congratulations on the nomination! 🙂
