Friday morning madam had Pony camp for two and a half hours meaning I could do my long run in a different more scenic location and my running buddy could make it also which was great. The location of the run was The Flitch Way which is a path along the site of a decommissioned railway running from Bishops Stortford to Braintree. We would start in Rayne run to Braintree then turn around and head to Dunmow before turning around and heading back in time to collect madam.

Some history

I ran safe in the knowledge that I would not return with a pig as I struggle with being married a month let alone ‘a year and a day’ without wishing I was unwed! (snoring) The run itself seemed long due in part that it was 13 miles and also a long straight run. It felt like running on an outside treadmill! My running buddy seemed to finish strongly and have more left in the tank, but I was completely empty.

Panic set in later when I realised that in 9 weeks time I will have to run double that! Oh b*****!

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!
