You know those days where the run is harder than it should be, you know those days where it does not feel good, you know those days where the first two miles go fine and then you get derailed, well madam had one of those days at parkrun this morning. Mile one and two she was ahead of me and running well, then she stopped, I caught up with her and tried to get her to run with me but she didn’t. I got to the end, turned fully expecting to see her behind me, but no, she was no where in sight, I waited and waited, started to get worried and then phew she appeared on the horizon. She finished and was not happy, I found myself telling her all those things that friends told me after London Marathon. Who knows why it did not go her way today and I know we have all had those days, next week we need to make sure her experience is more positive. (Think I got a PB but don’t tell her!)
Directly after the run we made a bee line for the Devon County Show. Now if you want to read a locals report click here but this is a report from a new Devonians point of view.
There was lots of soft things to touch
lots of fun things to look at, too many to take pics of but I did like these magic Roundabout figures
love Brian and these Cauliflower sheep were great
Then there was lots of displays, dancing JCB’s
and show jumping were two that we watched
then there was amazing food everywhere you looked but I only took a picture of the Cheeses for two reasons 1) I LOVE Cheese Grommit 2) I have been to a few County Shows Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex but don’t recall any of them having a cheese competition
YUM.
Our day in brief
- The weather was great
- We walked miles
- It was busy
- Who knew there was so many kinds of rabbits
- One pig looks like another
- Alpacas are VERY soft and make funny little noises
- If I had eaten everything I liked the look of I would be very FAT.
- JCB’s can dance
- We had a good time
- No I am very tired
Can’t wait for next years!
glad you has a nice day – the cheese is one of the best bits! The alpacas humming is another 🙂
Humming? Mmm maybe they were it was like muted baa very cute
a hummed baa maybe? I think they were subtly impresed when I tried to speak alpaca back to them. I probably looked a little strange to human though…
Ah, yes… The dancing diggers. I remember them well. I’m sure I was in the DCS once. Can’t remember what for though…but it got me free entry that year.
Your poor girl! Last week`s superb performance probably set her up for this w/end`s disappointment. It`s good for kids to experience upset and things not going quite their way. Hard to watch and let them deal with it, but important lessons in life just the same.
Hope you`re not skiving off your fence painting in heading for that country fair!
Love the caulisheep though!
Caught red handed I was skiving left hubby at home doing it (his choice honest!). Spot on with your comment re madam too!
CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE!
when you say busy – you mean busy 🙂 love the sheep photos x
Ooh I love the look of the show – especially the furry alpacas 🙂 Did think at one point that one of the cauliflower sheep had lost its head but then realised it had just merged with the grass. Phew! Glad to see madam must have had a good day to cheer her up post run (and yes, we all have those days but thankfully it makes the good days ever better 😉 )!
Fluffy! Want!
