Garda to Bardolino

The day started with us having a buffet breakfast at the Hotel. Any breakfast that incorporates cake is a good one in my book. Fortunately for my waist line we are self catering and from now on its a bowl of cereal, needless to say I had one of everything making the most of the opportunity!

After a welcome meeting with the holiday rep, we hopped on the shuttle bus and went down to Garda.

Truly a beautiful setting

After a brief family meeting it was decided (2 to 1!) to walk along the lake to Bardolino. The walk was lovely, so unlike Devon, no stiles, no cows, no mud and no hills, yes holidays are good!

We cheated and took the ferry back to Garda, where we ate lunch by the lake. Stunning location but did feel the staff were not really very keen on having our business!

Self catering means I don’t get away from food shopping whilst on holiday but it’s always far more interesting shopping in foreign supermarkets, the food far more colourful, look at the pasta!

Far less appetising  was the Donkey sausage!

Enough supplies were purchased to ensure I don’t have cake for breakfast and it was back to the hotel for us and more importantly the Olympic sized swimming pool. Cold but that’s just what we needed.

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!
