Kit ready

With just two weeks to go until the London Marathon, I have been making sure the kit I will run in on the day is, comfy, non rubbing and ready to go.

Firstly I have been wearing in my new Nike trainers

IMG_0070aren’t they lovely, comfy too which is important I guess, as well as beauty although this is a close run thing! Trouble is when they get wet the dye transfers to my socks

IMG_0074which is why these have a slight pink tinge to them. These I hope will be kind to my feet with  little help from my new friend….

IMG_0071this stuff is great, I used if for the first time last week and no rubbing-anywhere. Yes Vaseline would do the trick, but this is so much better.

Slight disaster with the event clips

IMG_0073you will notice 4 fronts, three backs, one back has vaporised, one minute it was in my hand, the next gone, I worked on the theory that it would ‘turn up’ but nope. Fortunately I have spotted an event clip stand at the Expo so will be popping in there.

My trusty Ron Hill leggings, although hole and wear free, have just been washed far too much and had a certain unpleasant stiffness about them. They have been replaced with a softer, brighter pair

IMG_0076quite pleased and totally unplanned that they match my trainers.

Lastly the top. (I will spare you the underwear choices, you’re welcome) Having gained the club place, this means unfortunately that  I need to wear a club top. I say unfortunately for two reasons 1) The club colours are the same as Manchester United’s and black and red are so not my colours! 2) The club vest is I am sure made of hessian, I wore it for a 10k run and the chaffing was horrendous, after 26 miles I fear my arms would have sheered off! The club t-shirt is far nicer but if its warm being black will be too warm.  I hatched a cunning plan and it involved the sewing machine. Take one men’s small shirt

Capturecut off the sleeves, scoop the neck line, take the piping out from the sleeves sew round the arm holes and hey presto two days later

IMG_0077I just hope it holds up!

Not long now.

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!
