Recently we have not much luck as a family dining out!
Attempt One
Hubby decided we should drive to a pub where he had previously taken his mother. He said it was 45 minutes away. I drove. No way was it 45 minutes away, double that. By the time we got there Madam was feeling car sick. We were there before 5, the pub did not serve food till 6! We came home!
Attempt Two
For hubby’s birthday I made reservations at Jamie Oliver’s restaurant. On arrival Saturday lunch time we were told there was no gas and they could only offer us cold food. Having looked forward to this treat all day. I was not a happy bunny. (Jamie has been notified). How could they not have a back up? Why was I not contacted? They had my details. We went elsewhere.
Attempt Three
Sunday our weather was gorgeous so we went for a family walk to a pub we have been to before. Hubby decided on the Medium Bream on the special board. Ten minutes later we were told no Bream. He opted for Monkfish. Ten minutes later we were informed that this would incur an extra £7, but they had Large or Extra Large Bream. He opted for Large Bream at an extra charge of £3. Now why was the Medium Bream on the special board if they did not have it? I also think they were a bit cheeky asking for the extra fee under the circumstances! This time we did get to eat but that was an hour after ordering!
Today is our 14th wedding anniversary. We stayed in and had fish fingers, chips and beans!
Happy anniversary!!!! Fish and chips are a favorite of mine!
We like dinning as a family …
I’ll play drums…
The lad will bang on saucepans…
The lass will scream loudly…
And my wife will play violin…badly.
š
And now, in a rare moment of not being cheeky or sarcastic…”happy anniversary” š
You know I pondered that for a while! Will duly edit!
Ooo… very swift edit.
Toss up between you and my Dad who would get in first so well done for beating an 83 year old!
Happy anniversary –that all sounds sooo romantic!. Sorry to hear of your gastronomic tribulations but well done for consistent effort to have a good time in spite of the pub and restaurant industry!
It takes a LOT for me to convince hubby to eat out in this country… We ALWAYS experience some or other hiccup… He’s has now thrown in the towel… Money gets saved and we out luxuriously on holiday š
PS HAPPY ANNIVERSARY XXX
Happy Wedding Anniversary x
I loved the last line of this blog the best. Fishfingers are my ultimate food but best served in a sandwich with lots of ketchup
Fish fingers are a fav of ours too, but I like mine with Tartare Sauce! Posh!
Happy (belated) anniversary!
Best laid plans! I have to admit, I have been to Jamie’s and wasn’t overly impressed with it (expensive for what it is). Cosy Club in Southernhay do better cocktails too!
