Another First

Yesterday we headed to the beach making the most of hubby”s mid week day off and the clear blue skies.

This was the beach on arrival

With the weather set to change it did not last like this for long.

Family tradition is Dad goes in the water with offspring Mum reads a book or watches and when required plays hours of bat and ball games. That all changed yesterday. I found the sun too warm to sit in so Madam and I went for a paddle, this then evolved in to getting the body boards and riding the waves. Ok “riding the waves” might be an exaggeration, more like miss the wave and have the next one crash over your head filling your mouth and eyes with salt water! Oh dear it was SO much fun. Obviously I was far more hardcore than my companions and was only in my swimsuit whilst they wimped out and used wet suits! One session before lunch followed by a first ever family in the sea time. An amazing day, leaving me with sore arms, but can’t wait to go back. Now all I have to do is persuade hubby to play bat and ball.

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!

looks beautiful and sounds so much fun! Which beach was it?

  3. Oh I LOVE boogie boarding. Before I married Paul I had a house across the road from the beach, many happy hours were spent in the surf. Good on your Shaz, sounds like a magic day, the memories of which to treasure x

Nice one! Love Woolacombe – good for paddles (for me) and surfing/body boarding (for friends).
