Yesterday was the Blackdown Beauty put on by the running club.
I did not bother washing my trainers, the entry fee is reasonable and goes to charity, there is no number (other than the emergency contact one), no timing, no race, instructions were crucial and were printed in triplicate, flapjack was lunch as it started at 11:45.
I did it last year and wrote about it here, this year we did a different route as we opted for the 10 miler.
This year we ran 3.5 miles to first pub- had a coke. (other beverages are available) Then on another 3.2 miles, stopped for a cream tea
Run 3.6 miles to end and BBQ!
Yes it is a great run, not too hilly but the terrain in places can be awful. The nettles on one very narrow path were 5 foot high, despite breathing in and holding our arms above our heads we still got stung EVERYWHERE!
This is a self navigated run, if you are sensible you take the word instructions, if you want to get lost you print the map!
Great fun.
Juneathon Activities Day 27
- Flat parkrun
- 10 miles to 11. something (depending whose garmin you trust) run across the Devon and Somerset countryside
- Scones eaten with jam no cream- just two for me – others reported eating up to 6!
Sounds great… Though I think if I did it I might have ‘unfortunately’ got permanently lost at the cream tea stop.
That sounds like an absolutely awesome way to run a race!
those scones look yum!!
Looks like a lot of fun.
Nettles…gosh! Sounds worse than snakes.
Not quite but it’s close!
