Dear Little Yellow Bug,

The time has come for us to say goodbye. We have travelled many miles together, 105,000 to be exact. You have done us great service in the past 7 years and we are really sad to let you go, but you really are not made for these Devon hills due to your small engine size, (me too). You carried our family of three and all our baggage for a fortnights holiday in Cornwall, not bad for a little car. Work saw us cover points North, South, East and West, laden down with lap tops. Not once did you complain about the muddy cross country trainers dirtying your mats during the wet, muddy, winter months.

We had some knocks along the way, that ambulance was hard to spot until it was too late and by then you had kissed it. You stood firm when the 4X4 tried to get in your boot, never budging an inch. Then there was the green car who came out of no where, this resulted in a week in the body shop and a new door. I did feel sad for you when you were the only car parked in the cul-de-sac and a neighbour failed to see you despite your beautiful colour, more time in the body shop.

Yes there were knocks, but never once did you let us down and we loved you for that, and for your bright personality and smiley face.

We miss you already,

Shaz, Hubby, Big Madam, Middle Madam, and Little Madam

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!

Does little yellow bug have flowers painted on her bonnet? Very cute 🙂

  2. To be fair, ambulances are hard to spot, what with their larger size, neon/reflective paintwork, and big bright flashy lights and all, they pretty much camouflage themselves to be honest 😉

Yellow a good safety colour — so it could have been worse! Happy new wheels when they arrive.

  4. I hate saying goodbye to a much loved car/family member. Sounds like she served you well. Congratulations on the post-injury parkrun PB 🙂
