Saturday’s Plan
I actually turned up to parkrun with a plan, not a cunning plan just a plan. Usually I go out as fast as I can for as long as I can for the 5k before dying near the end. This week was going to be different. This week the plan was to start slow and then speed up finishing strong! For the first time ever I actually entered the woods feeling human, rather than a sick person with wobbly legs, with lungs resting on the top of my sports bra. I made it to the first mile and actually thought ‘wow this feels good’ rather the OMG where is the end? It was a good plan but not a plan that would get me a faster time as it happens! Guess I need to have a new plan for next week then.
Sunday’s Plan
Long run day. Do not get up silly early, run long on a new flat route which should be easy to follow along the river. Reality get woken up silly early for a Sunday by the cat who wanted feeding NOW, head out the door. Follow new route along river that did not follow the river at all at times, and was not flat, which led to much doubling back until I found the path I wanted. It was however a scenic run and enjoyable, one I will do again and extend further than the 11 miles covered this morning. (Newton Poppleford to Budleigh Salterton)
The hedgerows have enjoyed the recent damp weather and were flourishing, this meant two things 1) I got soaked by the wet foliage 2) The nettles had a field day on my legs causing me to spend the rest of the day, feeling like a 1000 Liliputians have been giving me acupuncture, seriously as a child they never hurt this much!
June’s Plan
There has to be a plan for June as it is an ‘athon’ month. For those of you not in the know an athon occurs in January and June, it is a month where bloggers undertake to run (or some other form of exercise) blog (or tweet – for those too lazy to blog!) and log the miles covered, every day for the month. Previously I have run everyday for the month, but to do that after coming back from injury would be foolish, even for me. The plan then is to run as much is sensible and that this poor old body will let me. I will also undertake the 30 day squat challenge
Yes come July I will have buns of steel, tired legs and bored you every day for 30 days. Personally I can’t wait for all three, but don’t worry there will be no pictures of me squatting posted here!
See I knew you would be relieved to here that.
230 squats? Good Lord! Did you know about the Jurassic Coast 10k? It starts at Budleigh and goes up around Otterton. I have a vague memory of it being around the August bank holiday.
Funnily enough I have printed the entry form for that one off, thanks. Not looking forward to the 230, I must admit
I’ve always thought it would be a very pretty course.
Tough I think but beaut!
She be baaaack!!!! Omg Shaz 230???? OUCH! Lol!!!
I can feel the ache from here! Good luck 🙂
Have you got a spell chequer??
I try and run parkrun with a plan but it rarely gets me faster and a PB I haven’t seen for two years. But it’s nice to finish and not feel like totally dying at the finish line.
