January is a busy month for Madam and I, both having three races each, ok so two of mine are ‘events’, but anyway it is busy.
Today saw the last of Madam’s races, so thought I would give you a quick over view of how things have gone this month, to be honest mostly because I have done very little running myself today! Oops
On the fourth day of Janathon I reported on the first event, which in Madam’s eyes on the day had not gone well. However her placing of 39th was pretty good after all, (on an extremely undulating course), when we realised that the best of the west were representing their counties having made it through a qualifying round. All bar three in front of her had county vests on.
Last Sunday whilst I was off running to the Obelisk, Madam was taken by my running buddy’s hubby to the fourth part of a cross country league she is in. She managed to move up from 20th to 16th place in the table with points earned from that run. Yay.
Today was Devon Schools Championship. To gain a place here she competed in two qualifying rounds. The best 20 from North, South, East and West Devon representing their areas. The event was held at Stover School, (private) wow quite some grounds they have there, Madam has decided she wants to go there, tempting admittedly seeing as they have boarders!
It was a beautiful morning, cold but perfect for running, we walked the course and decided it was not bad at all. Madam caught up with running friends from school and club whilst I chatted to the Mums.
We also discovered this very talkative, friendly fat cat.
Madam’s race was two laps, she was not so pleased about that, just over 3k in total. It was not long and they were off. First lap went by and she looked good, running well, in a good placing, I held my breath till she came around again. She came 14th out of 80, was pleased with herself, phew. Happy Madam, Happy Mum.
