Life is like a box of chocolates

That’s what Forrest Gump said in the film of the same name, before he proceeded to run across America. A fitting theme I feel for the month of running I shall be undertaking. Having had the lurgy before Christmas and being off chocolate (yes I was THAT ill) we have three unopened boxes, usually I would pack them all off to work with hubby, out of the way of my waist line. This year I shall eat one a day (JUST ONE SHAZ) post a photo of it here for your perusal. Bet you can’t wait! A Janathon theme.Β Can it get anymore exciting than that!?

This morning I ran 6 miles with my running buddy in a loop around the village. It was a nice social run with us catching up, the weather behaved, unlike last year when I ran through torrential rain and flooding on the 1st January. I loved it, so fittingly had the heart praline today! Yum

Nothing like putting lycra back on to make you realise you need to step away from the crisps, cake, biscuits and general junk is there! Seriously scared myself this morning if I had not known any better I would put myself at 5 months along! Yes SHAZ ONLY ONE CHOCOLATE A DAY!

Just remember, life is like a box of chocolates.” … “You know, they’ve got these chocolate assortments, and you like some but you don’t like others? And you eat all the ones you like, and the only ones left are the ones you don’t like as much? I always think about that when something painful comes up. “Now I just have to polish these off, and everything will be OK.’ Life is a box of chocolates.”

Lets hope it is a while, before I have to eat the orange ones! Happy Janathoning all.!

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!

I was going to suggest sending the orange ones to me but I see you’ve already found a taker πŸ™‚
Well done on 6 miles – a great start to Janathon!

  4. fitflo says:

Very apt! 6 miles is a strong start. So, is the one dairy milk a day going to be the ONLY chocolate you have all day in January?

  5. shazruns says:

I hope so Carla, but time will tell. My stomach needs this!

  6. plustenner says:

    just had half a Terry’s Orange πŸ™‚

Happy Janathoning Sharon. And good luck with sticking to one choc a day. It would be well beyond me as I’m an all or nothing type-and, more usually, go for all rather than nothing. And yes, my lycra knows that. It’s straining at the seams after this Christmas!

Great theme! I admire your 1-a-day restraint (spare will power, please send my way!).

  9. Love the theme πŸ™‚ I shall think of you especially now when I do my chocolate marathon. Your run today sounds lovely, nothing like a social chatty run. All the best for Janathon and for only eatin gone chocolate a day! That’s awesome willpower.
