Sun, Sea, Surf.

Yesterday we arrived in Cornwall for a weeks holiday. The journey used to mean a 4 a.m wake, followed by a 6 hour car trip, now we are in Devon, it is a slow wake up, cup of tea in bed, departure at 9, arrival at 10:30, bliss when you are travelling with a Madam!

We are staying in the annex of a house, 5 minutes walk to our favourite beach.

The marathon training will be lax this week, but I am hoping to run most days, none of these will be easy as they will be along the Cornwall Coastal path, they will however be scenic. Some views from this mornings 5 mike run, past Bedruthan Steps

The weather was perfect for the first 3 miles and then without warning the wind picked up, the clouds blew in, it started to rain, pretty soon the view looked like this.

Scary how fast it can change. By the time I got home, the sun was back out, the clouds and rain gone. So it was off to beach for some body boarding. Not for me you understand, I paddled about in the warm pools of water before retiring to my chair up the beach.

The afternoon was spent retracing my morning run, back to Bedruthan Steps, where we explored the cave and admired the scenery.

After dinner we had a game of crazy golf. It seems I won’t be challenging Rory Mcilroy any time soon. Not sure what it is about crazy golf but every time I play it, I end up in fits of giggles, needing the toilet NOW!
I lost. Am demanding a rematch, but will visit the WC FIRST.

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!
