Long slooooooooow run followed my long lazy day at the beach

Another fine day forecast and the family were hankering for a day at the beach, I needed to do a long slow run though, so it was up and out early for me. It was probably the best time to run temperature wise. I managed 11 miles, initially wanted to do more but I had had enough by 11 miles. One pic from this mornings run, it struck me as a very English summer country scene.

The beach of choice today was on the south coast and only 20 minutes away. Ladram Bay is beautiful, known for its red rocks and sea stacks.

Hubby and Madam went out on a kayak

A very long while ago before health and safety I was put in a canoe with no training or guidance. The ***** thing capsized three times, I can clearly remember the fear of being stuck under this thing unable to right it, in the freezing cold murky water off the Norfolk coast. I have not be in any water type vessel since then unless you count the Ferry to France which I don’t.  I am very pleased to say that after Madam had her turn I got to ride upfront. The kayak felt safer more secure than that canoe of yonder year. Fantastic to see the coast line from a different perspective.

Spent some time bobbing around in the sea in the ring, very relaxing. Now very tired and slightly sun burnt. A week to go.

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!

Well done, Sharon. I was supposed to go for a longer than usual run but caved in the heat at three miles. Much more sensible to go early in the morning. Nice to be having an actual summer though!
