Part One

I awoke this morning feeling hung-over, but disappointingly a drop of anything other than tea had not passed my lips on Friday night the closest I came to alcohol, was salivating over winsomes ice cream and baileys. The storm that was spectacular, arrived with us at 4 am, maybe that was to blame.

To be honest if Madam not been volunteering at parkrun today I would have stayed home-shocking.

Events occurred at last weeks parkrun that I will not get in to here, but suffice to say it was not good, you really have to wonder about the mentality of some people, due to this they have changed the course back to the old route. The old and the new route have dramatically different first miles.

I loved the new route. Straight in to a lovely down hill. Not so keen on the straight in to a hill route. I took it easy still feeling rough, the rain came and it was very muddy but my new off roaders were fabulous at keeping me upright and I just ploughed on through the mud.

Just examining the garmin stats for the 5k and I managed negative splits!! Whoo hoo, never done that at parkrun before, guess that hill at the start is good for something!

Running again tonight- The Umborne Ug personally I am hoping the Ug is not too uggy but rumour has it the 10k has two hills that have to be walked up. Oh bring it on. More on that tomorrow!

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!

Woot for negative splits! Double woot for remaining upright in the mud!

  2. Yeah for the negative splits, boo for feeling hungover without the actual alcohol. I hope you feel better.

  3. Doesn’t sound good 😦
    But well done, you.

I’d have gone with ‘negative splitting headache’ as a title, though. Next time. 🙂

Hope you feel less hungover now. Doesn’t seem fair to feel that way with no alcohol.

The parkrun thing sounds ominous! That storm was spectacular! We haven’t had such a good one for a long time. If it had been in the evening, I would have gone for a walk (there don’t need to be more crazy people out in Exmouth in their PJs at 4am…).
