Madam Envy

Maybe its a symptom of my advancing years, or maybe of being an ‘older’ Mum, but I do seem to spend more time being envious of Madam, I envy

  • Her ability to run effortlessly
  • Her tidiness
  • Her flat stomach (no even at 12 mine was not like that)
  • Her long legs
  • Her ability to be both deep and funny
  • Her straight hair
  • Her determination
  • Her little bottom
  • Her caring nature
  • Her ability to share a packet of sweets

Don’t worry she is not some sort of wonder child, she is a typical almost teen and comes with strops, moods and cheek by the bucket load so there is much I do not envy, including those fast approaching teenage years but today I discovered a new envy. Yesterday we managed to purchase a pair of new trainers for her, this entailed going in to a sporting outlet, Madam selecting the style, colour she was after and within 10 minutes they had been tried on and purchased and we were out of the shop (well we would have been if we had not been bogged down with the purchase of a swim suit for an up coming school aquathon). So add to the above list

  • Skinny feet

Today it was my turn so off to an Asics outlet we went an hours drive away. No luck there, very little stock and the prices not great.

On returning home I hit the web. I know what I need, I know the sort I need, I know the price I want to pay, I know the size, so should be easy right? NO. I’d find a pair, but on further investigation they were not the right size, width or most importantly right colour! After two hours I think I have been successful, well I have ordered one pair of New Balance trainers and one pair of trail trainers, the proof how ever will be in the running later in the week, I will keep you posted.

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!

Oh now I don’t have wrinkles knees, I have fat knees, which are always hidden, do I have thin knee envy, oh how I would love to wear a short skirt!

  6. Glad you found some shoes – shoe shopping is either easy and fast or fruitless and frustrating. I hope they make you really fast 🙂
