Plymouth Pentathlon

For the third Sunday in a row I found myself at an athletics meet with Madam, this time it was for a Pentathlon competition. Her second Pentathlon, but this one only had 5 entries, one of them the best in the south-west. It was going to be a tough one for my athlete.

It was tough, she came a commendable 5th place but managed to get 4 out of  possible       5 PB’s. Most exciting was the breaking of the high jump PB by 9 cm’s, she has been trying to break this for 8 months and she smashed it. I embarrassed her totally by squealing loudly and jumping up and down, after all it is a mother’s prerogative to embarrass their off spring.

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!

  2. Beats me how anyone can putt shot without falling on their backside. That’s what happened me every time I tried! 🙂

Ahh for me it’s the high jump, why would you run up to something and throw yourself over it backwards? Always amazes me!

      • I agree. I always opted for the run towards it, then through it approach. Never quite mastered getting over it.

Well done for the PB’s. She must be very happy with those.

Congratulations to Madam! I love the long jump action shot! I’d dread landing from that sort of height now!
