What a week

Monday- The builders came to replace the felting on the roof. Much banging, traumatising of cat, and annoying of neighbour occurred. Monday night when we had half a roof, the rain came and madam got a wet bed. I did not make it to running club as the weather conditions were less than pleasant.

Tuesday- The builders returned, the cat continued to hide and the irritable neighbours got irritated even more! Madam and I managed an interval session on the football pitch. I had technical issues with the Garmin, (well if you count turning it off and on a technical issue!) not a complete session but time was short.

Wednesday- Hospital appointment, followed by a presentation and after that collection Madam plus friend from school. For the past 15 months I have worked from home, I do not get released on the public too often which is probably wise. But this week I was to give my first presentation of our product to a head teacher. I had had 5 days to prepare and 5 sleepless nights. Did I need the hospital appointment prior to this and two almost teenagers after this? NO. Happy to report all in the day went better than I had anticipated. Builders finished the roof, cat feeling better, but neighbours still grumpy.

Thursday- I woke up feeling like I had been hit by a double-decker bus, the duvet wanted me to stay with it and I was very tempted. DOMS had arrived in my legs. How can I run 15 miles and not have a problem, but do a mile worth of intervals and I have legs like a jelly fish? Then I managed to get washing up liquid in the dishwasher, this caused much foam in the kitchen and the dishwasher stopped working. I assumed it was the fuse in the plug so moved the washing machine out to get to the plug, took the fuse out of the iron and put it in the dishwasher plug. No joy. Google told me I would have to wait for the electrics to dry out. I now have a load of wet towels to wash, a pile of dirty dishes the day was not going well, all this before 8 am! Then I realised the fridge was off, out to the garage, flip the fuse, dishwasher works, vinegar in the dishwasher to get rid of the foam, washing machine on. Phew that was close! Whilst Madam was at athletics I ran 6 miles to get rid of the DOMS, it did not work!

Friday- I have taken the day off. This morning I ran 10 miles, it was cold, it was wet but its done  and now on Sunday on Mother’s Day I can do *** all and that’s exactly what I intend to do!

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!

What a week! You are definitely deserving of a nice relaxing weekend! Take care if you go over to Killerton – if they had hail and snow, it might be interesting in patches!
