Should not have run….

…..this morning unless of course I was training for dancing on ice, it was treacherous. It was by far the slowest 3 miles I’ve done in a long while.  It was by far the scariest run I’ve done. I gingerly criss crossed from side to side of the lane seeking out running water or the grass in the middle of the lane (thank you Devon) as the safest place to be.  There was lots of cries from me of ooooohh ahhhhhhh ewwww and am sure at one point a cry from the bushes of a clear 10, in a distinct Jason Gardiner type voice.

Have never been so glad to be back home on terra firma carpet. It was a beautiful morning though but not an experience I shall be repeating any time soon, next time ice will delay play until lunch time.

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!

Sounds like something I would do. Ugh winter!

No matter how scary, slippy or slow you still did it! So that run counts double in “hardcore” points

Sounds rather treacherous! Wear ice skates next time 😉

I hate icy conditions, but I reckon the effort to stay upright’s as good as pilates for core conditioning. Hope you get through the Dancing on Ice auditions by the way!

Why are the most perfect running days spoiled by treacherous ice?

First properly chilly day of the year, but I don’t think we are due another one for a bit,so your morning runs should be safe 🙂

Crikey, sounds like a tough one, at least you made it back safely and in one piece 🙂

  8. Swap you… I’m visiting my younger daughter in Melbourne, 43C yesterday, 39 today and 41 tomorrow 🙂 It’s like living in a great big hair dryer.

  9. I have definitely altered my plans recently due to ice even during my 9 miler this weekend when I almost bit it! The things us runners do to get the run in!

Yes, a gorgeous morning here too with the heaviest frost so far this winter. Lovely. But not for running.
