Running after Christmas

With our front door being replace by a revolving door to allow for the incoming and out going of our guests easier, there has not been any time for running over the past week and this next week not looking much better either! Guess I will save myself for Janathon 2014!

Yesterday I did the usual parkrun, this time without Madam who has been suffering with a cold, although the rest of us have suffered more with her blow-by-blow account of how sore various parts of her face were (rotten though not to be 100% over Christmas) however I did take with me

  • Pigs in blankets
  • Red cabbage
  • Shortbread
  • Malibu and Coke
  • Cake
  • Sticky toffee pudding
  • Tunis cake (Mary Berry you have a lot to answer for)
  • Thornton chocolates (thanks Dad)
  • Sherry
  • Shortbread
  • Wine
  • Crumpets
  • Roast potatoes
  • Pringles
  • Sausage plait
  • Shortbread
  • Chocolate
  • Pringles
  • Peanuts

yes I took all that with me, I could feel it in my toes, in my bottom, in my arms, in my legs, in my lungs (how did it get in there?) and in my belly, hence no speed records broken!

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!

    I`m in exactly the same boat, Sharon. Minus parkrun yesterday. I`m relishing these days beside the fire and catching up with friends and family. Lovely! But roll on Janathon! Before I roll over!

  3. Sounds like you had a lovely Christmas, just think of it as specialised carb-loading for Janathon 🙂 Hope Madam is feeling better.

  4. I can feel your pain. I took quite a bit with me on a 7.5 mile run yesterday which was slow, slow, slow. But at least we got out there! Hope your daughter feels better soon!

  7. Mmmm… Shortbread.
    Why do they present it in so many different shapes…round, thin, wedge-shaped…? Is it to make us try one of each just in case they taste different?!
    It’s a conspiracy I tell you.
