An anniversary, a run and a pentathlon

Today hubby and I have been married for 12 years, well done to him for hanging in there for this long I say! I must be doing something right as he bought me a beautiful new raincoat.

Madam competed in her first pentathlon today, so my wish to go to the Knit and Stitch show was scuppered.

First was the hurdles

she was disappointed with this but although she was last in her heat and did not glide as she normally does her time was good.

Then was the high jump

this was only the second time she has done this and she did very well, how anyone throws themselves backward over anything is beyond me.

At this point I fitted in a 5 mile run, (my first in a week) I tested out the Pinhoe Road hill that I will run as part of Exeter half marathon. I did not find it too bad, but if I come across it at mile 12 I might well feel different.

I got back in time to see the shot put, which clearly madam needs practice at!

Next was the long jump where madam achieved 3metres 18 which she tells me is a PB

Then it was time for the final event (by this time we had been there 7 hours!) the 800 metres. Madam ran well at a constant pace coming third out of the eight in her heat.

All in all it was a good day, a good experience for Madam and one I hope she will build on.

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!

Congrats to you all! Terrific pictures of your girl. I think she`ll be so encouraged when she sees what an athlete she is.
