A different kind of Saturday

For those of you who have stopped by expecting a parkrun report or details of my latest training run then you best switch off now as NONE of that happened today.

Instead I went to see these (after a slight detour to Gatwick)

My Mum belongs to a quilting group and every three years they hold an exhibition to display their hard work and I was not going to let the 200 mile journey put me off going to see this years display.

The look on Mum’s face when she saw me and the length of time she took to realise that yes it was me standing next to her was worth the drive in itself, the beautiful quilts were just a bonus.

This is the central design on Mum’s quilt that she has just finished for her and Dad’s bed.

Love the colours and the fact that it looks like four hearts.

When I grow up I want to be as clever and creative as MY MUM!

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!

Quilting is just an amazing exercise in artistry, craftsmanship and patience. I have no idea how quilters do it. Have you inherited your mother`s skills?
