Mouse Racing

Last night madam’s school had a fund-raiser this was mice racing. For those of you who don’t know (and I didn’t) it is exactly what it says on the tin! Oh yes we know how to live here in Devon!

The mice are in a contraption similar to thisCaptureand as tables we could buy a lane in an auction. Some lanes went for as much as £42!! If your mouse came in the first two you won some money. The children could also bet on a lane for 50p. It was very noisy at times with as shouting, sometimes the mouse would almost get to the end and then turn around and gotback the way they had come, most annoying. The evening got very exciting when a local cat came in and made himself at home on my lap, unaware that not very far away were some rodents he could eat.

We did not win, not even the raffle!

Today neither madam or I got a PB at parkrun, disappointing for us both but was going to happen sooner or later.

This afternoon saw us continue with ‘operation fence construction’ with me continuing with the painting and beginning to feel like a fourth bridge worker! Will it ever end?

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!

      • ilovelucca says:

those muffins are very very very bad!! Did youcheck out the website where i got the recipe from? She is evil!! Everything has choc, lollies or sugar in it…yum!
I am playing round with a fruity proteiny version for us ‘runners’…will keep you posted…
        hows oscar???

      • shazruns says:

No will check it out. The madams love Nutella so I will be popular! Will look forward to a runners one! Oscar is up to his usual, will only be outside if we are, if madam goes in the house he cries for her. He sleeps all day on spare bed, then moves in with madam when she goes to bed, then comes in with us later in the night. Why can’t he sleep on us own? Funny cat.
