Much has been blogged already about the horrific events at the Boston marathon, all of them much better than I could ever do (here are some:- another mother runner, two princessesontherun and PaulKrunner don’t go to any with out tissues!) So I wont even try to add to it other than to say that yesterday I dedicated a mile to people I love and admire, on top of this I will now dedicate each step I take on Sunday to those that after training through the winter (probably worse than ours) had their chance of finishing their challenge taken away from them, I can’t even imagine how they are feeling.
I came across a Poll on the web posing the question Have the Boston terror attacks deterred you from running in Sunday’s London Marathon? I must admit it NEVER occurred to me not to run so answered this with a resounding NO.
In praise of VLM I received an email at 2.30 am today with a promise that I would get an email every day from now till the day keeping me up to date with news. As ever an amazing organised organisation! For them it must be a nightmare and don’t suppose many of them got much sleep last night!
It all kind of puts things in perspective a bit doesn’t it? Now its more important than ever to finish with a smile to hell with a PB! Or as the Americans call it a PR!
What the difference a day makes!

Well said!I know at the end of the marathon how drained and emotional one can be.How awful for so many that their race ended in such terror.
I love all of the runners determination. We all understand. We all train hard and know what it takes. Good luck at yours on Sunday and as I run my first marathon a week from Sunday I too will be more driven to finish.
and you WILL get a PB/PR xx
