Photorun: Exeter Quay

I got the idea for todays run from redhenrun who did a photorun around Shannon Harbour and posted some great pics.

Todays schedule called for an easy 6 miles and as I had a day off and wanted to go to Exeter, I thought why not combine the two. I chose a great day both for the day off and for the run, it was cold, but the sun was out and the sky was cloudless.

I parked the car and headed for the river opting for the sunny side of the Exe. Either side of the River runs a wide path great for cyclists, walkers and runners to share, not that there were many people about today but I would imagine in the summer it is a popular place. The Quay has many nice eateries, coffee shops and boutiques all of which I have earmarked for a return visit when I am not running or sweaty.

Actually it was a great run (not something your hear me say often) everything was perfect. It had it all.

  • Great weather
  • Beautiful scenery
  • Water birds
  • Bridges
  • No hills in sight
  • Public toilets
  • Signs for the public toilets telling you how many minutes away they were (extremely important for me this morning!)
  • To top it all was pleased with my pace (not something your hear me say often)

Nothing like a good run to set your day up right is there?

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!
