Happy Birthday

Friday was madam’s birthday. Hard to believe that it’s 11 years since she was this big.

She was unexpected, not in ‘I didn’t know I was pregnant‘ kind of way but in a ‘we didn’t think we could‘ kind of way! Hubby had cancer and chemo 8 years previously so we thought a baby was not on the cards. All children are special but she is our miracle. When she was little I spent a lot of time with her, lying with her on the floor, talking to her and she still remembers me singing to her at bed time,(scarred for life poor child) am so glad I did all this as she has grown up so quickly and the 11 years have flown by.
This morning the birthday girl opted out of the parkrun and decided she would be my official time keeper and cheering squad. I would rather this than have her run with me and not really want to. The morning was nice but not many people turned out, the smallest field yet. My aim was to beat the lady who beat me at the original course, then I beat her the first week at new course, she then beat me the week I ran with Louise. I did finish ahead of her and got a PB only by 8 seconds but will take that.
Tonight we went ten pin bowling. I struggle with this activity on a number of levels. I have no idea how the scoring works. My hand is small so stretching my fingers to reach the holes in the ball is tough. My thumb is fat so gets wedged in the hole which makes the release of the ball tough. I have little arm strength (must have been a T-Rex in a former life)so lifting the ball is tough. However tonight I won both games. Thinking of quitting running and taking up bowling. Has many positive sides:-no energy gels needed, eat and drink what I like, you get to wear really attractive shoes (really), no Lycra necessary, toilets nearby, it does not make my nose run and NO HILLS.

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!

Another PB! Well done! And bowling might be great, but there’s also no sunshine, no views, no unexpected discoveries and no lambs.
