Rain again

This morning we awoke to rain again, this is getting too much now especially as we keep hearing how it’s been the hottest day of the year etc-well not in Cornwall it’s not so keep quiet mrs weather person.
In the hope the rain would clear we opted for a local trip out to Heartlands, click here to see what it is all about.
It is the site of an old tin mine that with lottery funding they have regenerated. Our first stop was to the gardens, there was five areas each depicting countries where Cornish miners emigrated to along with plagues and stones telling us what they took to each area. Seems pasties are enjoyed all over the world due to this as well as rugby, football ans St Pirans day. It was a lovely area, they really have done a great job with it. The baby Monkey Puzzle trees being my favourite.
Next we went in to what was left of the old mine buildings which now houses the visitor centre here we learnt more about the miners and their lives.
When we came out we were all shocked to see the sun! Blimey it does shine in Cornwall!
This meant a trip back to the flat to eat lunch ad change to get on the beach at Hayle quick before the bright yellow thing disappeared!
The beach at Hayle is flat and three miles long but when the tide comes in it comes in QUICK, we watched many families get cut off and have to wade through waist deep water carrying everything which included their dogs, it looked like a mass evacuation.
We had a few hours on the beach and it seems the rest of the week it might bring the same, let’s hope.
Tomorrow I might actually run!

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!
