Yesterday

We woke up yesterday to the sound of wind and rain lashing fiercely against the front of the cottage. Watching it from the safety of the front room was the only option until the rain stopped. Hubby then decided it would be a great idea if we walked to Penzance, about 2 miles away.

Just before stepping out the back in to the force nine wind I told madam ‘remember this is your father’s idea’, he then added comfortingly ‘if we become parted remember we loved you’!!I have never walked in such strong wind before, I held on to madam tightly acting as ballast to prevent her taking off Mary Poppins style. It really was comical and more than a little bit mad.

My mass of curly hair became a mess of curly hair very quickly so on arrival in Penzance I purchased a tubey, scarfy thing that makes easily in to a beanie style hat that then kept the unruly locks in check on the homeward trek.

We wandered around the town, ate a pasty and did a spot of shopping and the weather was not too back except the wind.

I declared early on in the day it was to be a rest day. To run would have been foolish so I didn’t!!

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!
