Intervals with madam

Well last week I stated her on this blog I would run Thursday evening and Friday day, usually I do, do what I say I am going to but in this occasion I did not! Thursday evenings run got shelved when hubby text me to say he had picked up some Pear Cider. Friday it was just too humid and I went shopping instead!

However I did run Saturday (after a nag from a Sloth!) and Sunday, not far but I ran. Both were adventurous in their own right. On Saturday I was running over the railway bridge when a train went underneath and sounded its horn! I jumped so high I am sure I could have cleared a hurdle. Sunday’s run was a wet one with torrential rain from the halfway mark and then when I was waiting to cross the road a car went past through a puddle and I got drenched with freezing cold water.

Today I took madam out to do intervals. During the first set whilst she was in the lead she turned to me and said “you are slow aren’t you?” (don’t worry no chocolate for her now for a week!) The next set she wondered why indeed I was so slow when I run alot- at this point I pointed out the 37 year age difference! I did get the last laugh though when I did 8 sets and she only managed half, that’s the problem with the youth today no staying power!

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!

Love that you are getting her into running – she’ll either love you or hate you for it in later years!

Tee hee. Less nagging and more gentle encouragement, surely.
