Saturday I ran 20.91 miles it should have been 21 miles, I am hoping the shortfall of .09 miles will not make a difference! RB joined me for 15 of those miles and I was very grateful for her company. The last 2 miles were a struggle with my back aching and I had to make an effort to run more erect.
The Gothic toe nail faired well during the run, due to the boat size trainers I now am running in and after was not sore but unfortunately was not a pretty sight at all when I took my sock off. Ewwwwwww
Monday I took it to the Drs. Now I never go to the doctors but to me it did not look right at all. Anyway the toe was inspected and then the Dr backed right away to the other side of the room. Boy this is worse than I thought, I thought. But no she looked at me and said “what we have here is a bruised toe nail“, this obvious diagnosis was accompanied with an expression and tone that spoke volumes and it said ‘you stupid *** why are you wasting my time with this on a Monday morning’.
She did however recommend a foam toe protector to save it from further damage. This I have acquired today and with the great amusment of madam fitted it. It is a bit like a toe condom!
I am sure as a member of the medical profession she knew what she was talking about but to me it looks like so much more with the brusing appearing around the toe also not just the nail. Only time will tell I suppose.
Was excited to read that this week it is tapering time, this however was short lived when I noticed I am required to run only one mile less this week. I look forward to running ONLY 20 miles on Saturday then!
Ew a 21 and a 20. I prefer my training plan which said 20 then 17.5! Good luck 🙂
well done! and good luck for the 20 this weekend 🙂 xx
That is a hard-core training programme. I’m sure you’ll reap the benefits come race day.
Haha I only had to do 9 today hahahahah!!. No really I too have a black toenail and am now a little concerned as the toe seems to have gone numb too so will be taking myself off to the docs for an inspection…Good luck for your 20 this weekend.
I always get black toenails from running long distances (that’s why I don’t do it often!) – the bruising goes quite quickly but then I usually lose the toe nail a while later… probably shouldn’t be telling you this! 😉
Well done all you girls – I think you’re great – keep up t he good work but keep t he toe nails. Under wraps – I saw my first one over fifty years ago – not a pretty sight. Shaz’s Mum. With my new iPad!!
