Week 9 of Milton Keynes Marathon training plan done

Saturday my running buddy and I set off for a 17 mle run. Now my RB has a half marathon in 3 weeks so for her to run this distance is above and beyond what she should be doing, but I was grateful she wanted to tag along. The run was uneventful but we both found it tough. At 7 miles I took an energy gel and this seemed to pick me up but probably needed one at 15 miles also. At 13 miles two hearses pulled alongside us which did make us laugh, I know we looked bad, but that bad?

Sunday saw me on the side lines of a football pitch cheering on madam. I must admit could have done without jumping up and down but had no choice when she scored her first ever goal and her team won their first match! Hip hip hooray!

March is birthday month for my family with my mum, brother and madam all having birthdays in one week. So we celebrated with a meal Sunday night in which I made this cake for my OLDER brother

Also on the desert menu was Blackberry and Chocolate Chip Pie which seemed to be a hit, unfortunately I had to abstain from this and the wine as had one more run to fit in to complete week 9.

7 miles run at 7 pm with RB glad she wanted to run again, we spent the first half moaning about our sore legs and like they say ‘misery loves company’!

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!

  1. At least it was two hearses so you wouldn’t have to bunk in together!
Thanks for your tips on energy gels. I’ll look at the article and try them with immodium!!!
