Week 5 of Milton Keynes marathon training done but not completed

Wednesday saw me head out for an early morning Fartlek session. I love that word Fartlek but don’t love what it entails. It was meant to be a 4 mile session with a 1 mile jog either end. The first 2 miles went surprisingly well and I actually almost enjoyed it! The last 2 miles were a fartlek of sorts but in a jog/walk kind of way, to do anything else would have proved disastrous as by that time bowels had woken up. I know say no more.

Friday evening I did 5 miles whilst madam was at horse riding but not in the required 45 minutes!

Today was meant to be the long run day but then we woke to this:-Several texts flew back and forth between myself and my running buddy, she was still keen, so decided to postpone till the afternoon to give us time to build snowmen, throw snowballs and go sledding with our respective 9 year olds.

Hubby, madam and I headed to our local hill. This is the hill where two years ago I parted company with the sled at the bottom landing firmly on my coccyx to the great amusement of my family. This year I was determined to conduct myself with more dignity. The snow was not as compact so the sled did not go as fast. I am not sure I was that dignified though judging by this picture!

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!

Coo! We got an inch, and that’s mostly melted. Sledding sounds like great fun.
