Depressing news

This morning the news decided to enlighten my day but stating that between the ages of 45 and 49

‘Memory, reasoning and comprehension skills can start to decline’

now when like me you had very little of these in the beginning this is very disturbing news especially (without giving too many secrets away) I may be in the age range. Not what you want to hear on a Friday morning or any morning unless you are 21 and feel 45 is too far away to worry about (boy do I have news for those younguns).

However the flip side of this was

‘The researchers said that good cardiovascular health(1) achieved through sensible eating (2), a healthy body weight (3) and normal blood pressure (4) can help prevent dementia and rapid cognitive decline.’

so maybe I may not lose too much brain power with having 50% of the above (you work out which two!)

Thankfully I ran 3 miles this morning early, brain ticked over somewhat nicely all day and the gym session after work should keep the dementia at bay till Monday.

Keep running Janathoners it will keep you fit in more ways than one.

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!

That explains a lot! Now, where did I pit my trainers?

I tried to relay the same news story to Edward when he returned from work. We both fell about laughing at my pathetic attempts and I’m not – quite – within the age range!

  3. And don’t forget the cognitive stimulation of reading all of the Janathon blogs, that all helps too.

I wonder what the average age of the boffins who wrote the report was?
