Nothing in the tank

Todays planned run was 1 mile jog 1 mile fast 1 mile jog, this did not go to plan. Ran Madam to school following her on her bike and carrying her book bag and then set off to do said planned run. Very early on I knew this was going to be a struggle, I tried honest but the pace would not come. Why I pondered cannot I not run today as I plodded the 3 miles. Came to the conclusion that the WW Lasagne I had had for dinner (and before 9 mile run) was not enough fuel to keep me going for another 3 miles some 15 hours later. I knew now that I should have eaten a banana before setting off! I have never been so grateful to finish a run before! In the door inhaled a banana, showered, ate porridge and set out the door for the sporting event of the year.

The dreaded school sports day.

Madam came 4th in the orange

Mother came a very respectable 4/5th (Please bear in mind am at least 10 years older than the other Mum’s and it was ruthless out there with elbows being used, better get in training for next year if they are taking it this seriously)

Off to gym tonight.

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!

  1. Those yummie mummies can be sooo competitive! I once managed to make a rare appearance at my sons sports day, only to be greeted by a fellow mother with the words ‘oh you’re the poor darling who HAS to work’

      How nice was that! Am sure the winners have been training for weeks and the way they behaved at the end, you’d think they got gold. No not grren at all!

    LOL – well done to Madam and to you! And yes you do need to eat MUCH more when you are burning off over 1000 cals. A stoopid WW meal won;t do it you need some FAT woman! I highly recommend buttered Soreen malt loaf – squidgy yummy energy x

  5. I agree with fortnightflo – WW meals are stupid and they won’t do. Juneathon is the perfect excuse to crack out the carbs. I’ve fallen in love with weetabix all over again.

    Um the mum’s race, that race which everyone says doesn’t matter but once the whistle goes…….. did it last year in barefeet, not recommended!
