Hi ho, hi ho ……

…….its back to work  I go. In case you are wondering which dwarf I was, it was without a doubt this one:-
Last night over dinner I read this weeks training plan and nearly choked on my BBQ chicken as for today there was timetabled a 5mile run. Yes I know that is no problem, but it was to be run at a ‘steady‘ rate of 9:11 pace. ‘Steady‘ is given a definition of ‘a comfortable, but purposeful pace’ this is really what caused me to need hubby to perform the Heimlich manoeuver. If I was to run a 9:11 pace for 5 miles believe there would be nothing comfortable about it. My lungs would be exploding and I am sure I would need hospital treatment at the end. I spent the rest of the evening trying to think of a good excuse not to go for this run. Finally I came up with my legs would be too tired still after the 13 miles on Saturday night, so instead I went for Thursdays run tonight which was a gentler 1 mile at 11.03 pace, 3 miles at 10:19 then 1 mile at 11.03, it was very hard to take it gently but was sure glad I was not on the alternate ‘steady’ run.
My thumb joint has been sore today, infact was the only soreness following Saturdays run, if anyone has any ideas as to why this would be please submit answers on a postcard!

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!
