New route parkrun

Killerton parkrun has moved 2 miles from Killerton. Car parking is minimal, infact they recommend parking at Killerton and jogging over! You can imagine Madams reaction to that if I suggested it! I did not risk it instead battled the mud in the car park and squeezed in to a spot.

The course through woodlands was two laps and then a smaller loop. The mud was not too bad. It was scenic but in parts rocky underfoot. Madam set off with me and as we sped down a long hill I said to her this must mean there will be a nasty up soon. Being Mum I was right ofcourse! As we turned the corner there it loomed out of the mist, “see you at the end” I panted! Off she went while I ground to a slow plod or should I say slower plod. Again I could see her ahead of me most of the way, at one point we were shouting at each other through the trees!

I did not mind the route though the hill was a killer and you had to do it twice, but nice not so muddy. Madam did not like it!

Results in and we both got PB’s so pleased with that. Next week I will catch her!

About shazruns

I have been running since 2004 when I decided to do the Race for Life, as a close friend was terminally ill with cancer. Following that I did a couple of 10km at Leeds castle and Sandringham. Then in 2005 ran my first London marathon, then another in 2007 in blistering temperatures. I have entered the London marathon every year since but have been rejected, am now find maintaining my fitness & motivation hard, so when the email came through about Janathon I thought why not! Am hoping this helps with fitness, motivation and weight loss!! Wish me luck!
